Paint Me a Story In-Person
Inspire young artists through stories! Ms. Crystal will read a story and families will paint a piece of art that is meaningful to the story. Painting with your child is encouraged to enhance the experience and create a fun project together!
February Featured Artist: Faith Ringgold and Story Quilt Art
This program will be in celebration of Black History Month.
Celebrate the art and storytelling of Faith Ringgold by creating a collaborative story quilt throughout February! Each week, participants will explore different stages of design and creation while learning about the cultural and artistic traditions that inspired Ringgold’s work.
February 4 – Tell Your Story
Choose a story to illustrate — from a favorite book, a piece of family history, or your own lived experience. Create your chosen scene on fabric using watercolor pencils and pastels to bring your narrative to life.
February 11 – Design the Details
Experiment with textile design by creating swatches to form your quilt’s border. Participants may share swatches, reflecting the time-honored tradition of families and communities sharing fabrics and stories through quilting.
February 25 – Piece It All Together
Assemble quilt squares and embellish with beads, ribbon, lace, or buttons. Add final touches with glue or stitching to complete your one-of-a-kind story quilt masterpiece.
Feb 26 through March 31 - Display
Completed pieces will be assembled into a collective exhibit at the end of February and displayed throughout March, highlighting the community’s creativity, storytelling, and connection through art.
